About

The Elberon First Aid Squad, incorporated as a 501c4 in 1948 is a 100% volunteer agency that provides emergency medical care primarily to the residents of the Elberon section of Long Branch, NJ. Elberon First Aid provides backup for the rest of the city of Long Branch as well as our surrounding towns including but not limited to West Long Branch, Deal, Allenhurst, Eatontown, Oceanport, Monmouth Beach and Sea Bright. We are on a Monmouth County EMS Strike Team along with other agencies to respond anywhere within and outside of the county for mass casualty or high risk incidents. As we are situated near Joint Base Fort Dix, NWS Earle and the ferry terminals to NYC as well as various train stations to NYC, We are at a very high risk of being called for any sort of MCI.

Elberon First Aid is also responsible for response to the NJ Marathon (one of the largest marathons on the eastern coast, a prerequisite for the Boston Marathon) and Oceanfest; where over 300,000 people come through which has been a target for terrorism in the past. Elberon First Aid also provides support for multiple small scale events within town as there are multiple events due to our location on the Jersey Shore.

Elberon First Aid currently responds to over 600 calls a year with 2 ambulances and 1 first response vehicle providing BLS treatment to our patients. We respond out of a local firehouse within our primary response zone. We are financially supported by a small stipend from our City which further includes fuel and workman’s comp insurance, a donation letter request sent to our residents and various small fundraisers throughout the year. We are financially responsible for the purchase of our medical supplies, vehicle and liability insurance, apparel, training as well as equipment and vehicles including our ambulance and first response vehicle. We do not charge our patients.
